Dad had invented a water desalination unit that did not need to be powered, and spent that year, mostly traveling to countries who desperately needed to desalinate their soil and so increase the outcome from their harvests.

NOTE:  Melinda married Kellett because her attorney had advised her to marry someone who would agree to adopt Carolyn.   This advice came in response to Richard's flat statement he would rape her baby if it was a girl, if he had the opportunity.

1967 - 1968 (Approximately)
Richard attends University High School, where he reencounters Thomas Buckley, who he knew well at Redeemer Baptist Elementary School.  At this time, Richard was still driving the GTO, which was his first car.  This was followed by other cars, all gifts from his parents. Thomas reported that Richard worked, on and off, mostly off at his father's company. Tom was also working there part-time but rarely saw Richard.

    1. Thanks for the information. Tommy mentioned that they met at University High School and that he had introduced them to each other. I became aware RLB had married while I was at Santa Monica City College, about that time from Beverly's fiance'. At the time, I was still using the name Barteaux and because of this he confronted me, very angry that Beverly, who had been living with him and his parents, had run off without any notice to them, taking with her the engagement ring he had given her and the rings for their wedding. This had evidently shocked all of them. Beverly never contacted them again.
